Andrew L. Kramer III, age 64 of Camp Douglas, WI., died on Monday, August 14, 2107 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. Andrew was the son of Andrew and Dorothy (Kovel) Kramer II, and was born on July 31, 1953 in Berwyn, Illinois. Andy graduated from Morton West High School in Berwyn, IL in 1971, and then attended Technical College receiving a degree as a machinist. He later went to work as a tool and die maker. He was united in marriage to Gale A. Smithy on April 5, 1975, in Brookfield, Illinois. Andy and Gale later moved to the Camp Douglas area in 1985, where Andy worked for 30 years at the Camp Douglas Farmers Co-op.
Andy was an accomplished musician who loved playing the guitar, along with many stringed instruments and also enjoyed singing. He performed with several bands that included Stark Ravin Band, The Live End Band and most recently Runaway Train. He has played with many local musicians including Gene Schmidt and The Strangers. Andy also had a huge passion for HO scale model trains, and has a layout featuring the Milwaukee Road Railroad covering Tunnel City to Wisconsin Dells as it was in the 1950’s.
Andy is survived by his wife, Gale of Camp Douglas, three daughters; Heather Kramer of Camp Douglas, Jessica Kramer of Camp Douglas, Donna Kramer of Mauston, his mother Dorothy Kramer of Camp Douglas, a sister Karen (Robert) DiCarlo of Camp Douglas, a close friend Alan (Jodie) Christensen of Summerset, WI, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday August 18, 2017 at 7:00p.m. at the Hare Funeral Home (217 W. Pearl St.) in New Lisbon. Relatives and friends are invited to gather from 5:00p.m. until the 7:00p.m. time of service. Pastor Ray Anderson will preside. Online condolences are available at www.harefuneralhome.com
