Bonnie Rattunde Zak Obituary

Bonnie Jean (Rattunde) Zak, age 90 of New Lisbon formerly of Necedah, passed away peacefully at Crest View Nursing home, Monday evening, April 2, 2018 while surrounded by family.  Bonnie was born October 24, 1927 to Harold and Dorothy (Tucker) Oakes. 

In Bonnie’s younger years she was a certified lifeguard in New Lisbon and also graduated from Juneau County Normal Teachers College, after which she taught school in Necedah and also taught special needs children in Mauston.  Bonnie married Marland “Mike” Rattunde in October 1949 and was blessed with five children.  After Marland’s death on April 21st, 1984, Bonnie was married to Clayton Ritchart in October of 1985, and after his death was married to William “Bill” Zak on February 11, 1996. 

After raising her five children she returned to work as a Homemaker for the Juneau County Social Service Department until her retirement.  She had also worked as a part-time matron for the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department.  The closest thing to Bonnie’s heart was her volunteer work.

She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and was a past Worthy Matron twice.  She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, past Queen Mother of the Red Hat Society, President of the Methodist Church, past Necedah Citizen of the year, Lioness for New Lisbon and Necedah, and Past President of the Juneau County Extension Homemakers.

She is survived by her husband Bill Zak of Sparta, her children, Russell (Wanda) Rattunde of Rolling Stone, MN, James (Mona) Rattunde of Necedah, WI, Glen Rattunde of New Lisbon, WI, John (Sue) Rattunde of Necedah, WI, Linda (Brian) Pepich of Lemont, IL, and a brother Harold O. (Judy) Oakes of Necedah, WI.  Further survived by her Grandchildren, Rebecca Golson, Ryan (Angela) Rattunde, Mandi Rattunde, Melissa (Justin) Jenkins, Jamie (Jack) Nelson, Eric and Halie Pepich, Kris and Ann Parker, Kasey and Ryan Wilson, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jack Oaks, and a sister Sally Fischer. 

Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 6th, 2018 at 11:00am at the Necedah United Methodist Church (605 N. Harvey St.).  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at the Hare Funeral Home on Thursday, April 5 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, with an Order of Eastern Star Service at 6:30pm.  Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service.  Private family interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers Bonnie requests donations go to the Necedah Food Pantry, P.O.
