Edwin Dale ”Sonny” Georgeson, age 86, of New Lisbon, died on Friday August 4, 2017 at his home.  Edwin was the son of Edwin L. and Marie E. (Mattas) Georgeson, and was born on January 23, 1931, in Necedah, Wisconsin.  Edwin was born and raised in the Necedah area and attended school there until the 8th grade. Edwin worked on the family farm and never graduated high school, until recently when he was presented with a Honorary Diploma from the New Lisbon High School.  Edwin then joined the United States Marines, and moved to California. Edwin was united in marriage to Marion L Bigalke on April 18, 1952 in Yuma, AZ.  Edwin and Marion later moved to Baraboo, WI and operated a service station. They later moved to the New Lisbon area and Edwin worked at Walker Stainless Steel.

Edwin enjoyed racing cars, hunting, and working at the food pantry.  

Edwin is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Marion, of New Lisbon, five children, Michel (Ralph) Emrich of De Forest, Terri (George) Haske of Wisconsin Dells, Patsy Thomas of Camp Douglas, Robin (Joe) Graw of La Crosse, Timothy Georgeson of New Lisbon, and by 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren,  brothers, Charles Georgeson of Mauston, Duane (Karen) Georgeson of Necedah, a sister, Karen Blixt of Mauston, and his beloved cat Peewee.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 infant children, Edwin, William, Dale, Kathy, siblings, James Georgeson, Robert Georgeson, Naydean Weiland, Jeanette Robertson, Eileen Bigalke.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the New Lisbon Food Pantry would be appreciated.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 10:00a.m. until 12:00p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in New Lisbon (618 W. River St).  Military Honors will be presented at noon at the church.  Online condolences are available at www.harefuneralhome.com
