Edwin “Ed” Sumiec, age 90, of Mauston, WI died on Thursday December 01, 2016 at his home.  Ed was the son of Leo and Mary (Gromalak) Sumiec, and was born on March 14, 1926.  Ed was born and raised in the New Lisbon area.   He received his Elementary Education at the Oak Hill Country School, near his home.  He later graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1946.  Ed worked in Milwaukee for several years, and then enlisted in the US Army.  Ed was united in marriage to Betty Chilton on May 20, 1955, in Bremerton, Washington. They later moved back to Wisconsin, and have resided here since 1957.

Ed enjoyed collecting antique’s, and bird watching.  Ed and Betty would drive to Wabasha, MN to watch the Eagles on the Mississippi River.   

Ed is survived by his wife, Betty Sumiec of Mauston, a son William Sumiec, of Necedah, two sisters; Eileen Powers of Mauston, Lorraine Fugill of Germantown, WI, a brother Bernard Sumiec, Janesville, WI, and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Kathy, brothers, Walter and Leo, and sisters, Marie Sumiec, Bernice Hannington, Anna Sumiec, and Margaret Howder. 

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at 11:00AM at the Hare Funeral Home (217 W. Pearl St) New Lisbon, WI.  Relatives and friends may call at the Hare Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:00am until the time of service.  Rev.
