Forrest “Bud” Schucht, age 90 of Hustler , died on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Rolling Hills Rehab Center, in Sparta Wi.  Forrest Arden Schucht was a twin his twin Fern Ardell Schucht were born in LaCrosse Hospital.  Emma his mother took a train to LaCrosse WI and waited for the twins to be born.  Fred stayed home and did his farm chores.  Fern was born first before midnight and Forrest followed behind after midnight.  He always said he had a different birthday but had to take the one his sister had, which was December 27, 1926.  Emma always said what one didn’t think of the other one did.  He worked on the same farm he was raised on near Hustler Wisconsin.  He married Gladys Harriet Eitland and was married for 25 years.  They had three children born, Mary Schucht died in infancy, a unnamed boy who passed shortly after birth, and Yvonne Gloria Schucht.

Forrest got his nickname Bud or Buddy from his Grandmother Mary Schucht who taught him how to cook.  Especially fried potatoes and to chop them you always had to use a can to make them just right.  Where Mary went her little Buddy Boy followed.  He was baptized in the St Peter Lutheran Church near Clifton and was also confirmed there.  He was married in the St Paul Lutheran Church in Hustler Wisconsin.

He farmed on the family farm that Fred and Emma Schucht owned for most of his life and worked at Toro, Tomah Wisconsin before his retirement in Tomah Wisconsin.  He was always noted for his White cowboy hats.  It did not matter how much grease and dirt they got on he had to have a white hat.  I remember a safari hat he wore for many years.  He was always proud of his hats and his overalls.  He always chewed snuff (Copenhagen).  He liked almost any type of hunting.  We always said we did not go by dates to find out what time of year it was.  We went by what was in season and when there wasn’t any season we would go on Sundays picking flowers.  He loved his flowers especially roses.  When he moved to town he planted clover in his lawn.  He also enjoyed fishing, but not as much as Gladys who could always out fish him.  He always went up north to the Oxbow to go deer hunting at the cabin.  He was the tracker and was always on the trail for a bear as well as a deer. He boosted of being the best shot.  He got a lot of ribbing because he was the youngest of the bunch.   He was always the first one up the first day of trout fishing and then came home and milked the cows.  He loved children and said he had wished he had more children of his own, but then he would pick up these children and bring them home.  There was always someone else around and they were always treated like family.  He would see a boy on the street in Hustler and say that boy needs a haircut and then before you know it he had him at the barber shop and back home for some food, because he thought if they needed a haircut they also needed some food and someone to tell stories to.  He was proud that he had a license signed by the governor of Wisconsin stating he had a guide license.

His family is Yvonne (Garry) Olson, two grandchildren, Heather (Richard) Sorenson, Billy Joe (Sarah) Olson, three grandchildren Joshua Sorenson, Kyle Sorenson, and Amber Olson

Forrest is preceded in death by his mother and father, Fred and Emma Schucht, his wife of 25 years Gladys, two children, his twin sister Fern.
