Hilda Marie Martin, age 94, of Ellsworth, WI formerly of New Lisbon, WI, died on Thursday January 11, 2018 at her son’s home in Ellsworth, WI.  Hilda was born in the Lime Ridge area of Sauk County, WI to William and Anna (Nussbaum) Yarroch on April 17, 1923.  Hilda attended school attended Lime Ridge and was a 1940 graduate of Lime Ridge High School.

Hilda was employed as a Lab Technician for a doctor’s office in St. Paul, Minnesota for many years.  She loved the interaction with her patients, especially the children. Hilda was united in marriage to Darwin Rex Martin on May 31, 1969 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in New Lisbon.  They later lived in Des Moines Iowa, then moving to New Lisbon in the 1980’s.

Hilda was an active member in the New Lisbon Lioness Club and the St. Paul’s Altar Society.  She enjoyed doing ceramics, and working in the garden, and she loved to travel.  Hilda was an avid Minnesota Viking’s fan and a Cub’s fan.

She is survived by her son, Leonard McDaniel of Ellsworth, WI, and a sister Arlene “Polly” Peterson of Beloit.  Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darwin in 1997,  a brother Levi Yarroch, by 6 sisters, Clementina “Clem” Christie, Elizabeth “Billy” Conrad, Dorothy “Dottie” Rockwell Zobal, Berniece “Skippy” Selmecki, Agnes “Johnnie” Robison Kane, and Madeline “Mac” Thompson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday January 20, 2018 at 1:00p.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church (408 W. River St.) in New Lisbon.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at the church on Saturday from 11:30a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery later in the spring.  The Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon is assisting the family with services.
