Howard V. Rurup, age 73 of New Lisbon, WI, died on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Tomah VA Hospital.  Howard was the son of Albert and Doris (Weber) Rurup, and was born on October 19, 1943 in Madison, Wisconsin. 

Howard attended the New Lisbon High School, graduating in 1961.  After graduating he was employed at Badger Ordinance in Baraboo, WI. He then entered in the United States Army National Guard, later retiring after 20 years.  Howard was involved in food service all his life. He married Dianne Dennis and she preceded him in death.  He later was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Olson. 

Howard was a big sports fan, enjoyed fishing, and was a lifetime member of the New Lisbon American Legion Post 110.    

Howard is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Rurup, of Tomah, WI, siblings, Douglas Rurup, of New Lisbon, Kristy Koca, of New Lisbon, Randy (Christine) Rurup, of Middleton, Charmaine (Bill) Reid, of Henderson, NV, Mark (Dr. Cathy Rasmussen) Rurup, of Marshall, step children, Litza Lawrence, of Tomah, Aletta (Gary) Tibbles, of New Lisbon, Cherryl (Carl) Leis, of Colby, step grandchildren, Jean, Jessica, Debra, Jennifer, Todd, Deanna, Nathaniel, Cynthia, 8 step great grandchildren, a close friend Roger Heintz, of Wausau, and many other relatives and friends.    

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dianne, brother, Leo Rurup, sister, Dawn Rurup, and a step son Ernie Lawrence.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Monday, January 23, 2017, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Hare Funeral Home, in New Lisbon.  A private family burial will take place at a later date.  Online guestbook available at www.harefuneralhome.com
