James R. “Jim” Wehman, age 58 of New Lisbon passed away on Sunday, Fathers’ Day, June 18, 2017 at home with his family by his side.  Jim fought a courageous battle with cancer but never lost his will to live, his compassion for others and always kept his sense of humor.  He was born on November 22, 1958 to Fred C. Wehman and Esther (Wood) Wehman.

Jim lived his whole life in New Lisbon.  He attended New Lisbon Schools and graduated with the class of 1977.  He worked for his father “Fritz” at New Lisbon Wood Mfg. (the Pallet Factory) throughout his youth.  He attended WWTC in La Crosse and received a degree in electronics.  He drove truck for Century and Holland for 35 years and made many lifelong friends over the course of his driving career.

Jim married the love of his life, Penny (Voigt) on February 4, 1984 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in New Lisbon.  Together they raised their two sons, Jordan and Jon in the house that they built on the Lemonweir River.  Jim enjoyed life in New Lisbon and the people in it.  The door to his house was always open and his house was seldom empty.  Jim was a very generous man who would help anyone with a project or a job.  Most week-ends were spent doing just that.

Jim and Penny were blessed with a grandson, Brennden, age 7 who was the light of his life.  They spent a lot of time on the river and playing ball.

Jim will be remembered for his love for his wife Penny and his “boys”.  He bravely fought the battle with cancer and said “I’ve had a good life”.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Penny; sons Jordan and Jon, grandson Brennden; sister, Beverly (James) Knothe of Naples, Florida, brother Fred (Shirley) Wehman of New Lisbon, and sister Paula (Irvin) Tessmer of New Lisbon, many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther in 1999, and Fritz in 2012.

A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 24th, 2017 at 4:00pm at the New Lisbon Community Center (110 Welch Prairie Rd), New Lisbon, WI.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday from 1:00pm until the time of service.  Rev. Wendy Ruetten presiding.  Online guestbook available at www.harefuneralhome.com
