Kriztine Nicole Barrett of Camp Douglas died at her home in La Crosse on Saturday December 30, 2017. She was 21.
Kriztine was born October 2, 1996, in Camp Douglas, the daughter of Chad and Anna (Strand) Barrett.
She graduated from Tomah High School in 2015. Kriztine was a full-time student at Western Technical College with plans of transferring in the fall to UW Lac Crosse to further pursue her degree in Psychology.
Kriztine was an artist, photographer, and caretaker of her younger sisters. She was in 4-H as a child and in high school was in the school’s honors art program. She was part of the Visual Arts Classics and photography clubs in school.
She loved animals — from kittens to snakes — and brought them home to the family farm.
Kriztine was compassionate, loving and cared for her friends and family. She could break the ice and tension, making everyone around her laugh and feel loved, and found the best in every situation. Her love was selfless.
She is survived by her parents, Chad and Anna Barrett; her sisters, Emily and Kate Barrett, her paternal grandparents Tommy and Linda Barrett; her maternal grandmother Joan Strand, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, David Strand, and her aunt Stacey Barrett.
