Dayla Lockert Obituary

With sadness Dayla Lockert, age 66 of Elgin, IL. passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020.  She grew up in Carpentersville, IL.  She was the daughter of James W. and Doris R. (Larson) McCay and was born on November 23, 1953 in Chicago, IL.

In high school her interest turned to taking pictures and art. She won a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago for a summer. Later, married the love of her life Earl and had three children. She completed and received her bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Tennessee.

Sadly, she lost her husband and best friend in a car accident and was left filling both roles and did her best while raising her kids.

Dayla's heart was always big and she would take in any stray animal and nurse them back to health.

Dayla loved her children and loved her grandchildren unconditionally. She loved to learn and loved photography, always taking pictures of her kids, grandkids and family.

Dayla will be missed dearly by her family.

Dayla is survived by her children, Regan Hendricks of Elgin, IL, Layne Chandler of Elgin IL., and Justin Lockert of Belvidere, IL, a sister Shaun Riedemann of Lake in the Hills, IL., a brother Joe McCay, and 6 grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Earl in 1991.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday June 5, 2020 at 2:00PM at the Fountain Lutheran Cemetery.  Rev. Virginia Rayney presiding.  The Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon is assisting the family with services.  Online condolences available at www.harefuneralhome.com
