Joy Elsing Obituary

Joy Ellen Elsing passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on February 15, 1953, in Rockford, IL to Clifford and Janice (Little) Thompson.  The family moved from Illinois to a small farm outside Hillsboro, Wisconsin where Joy grew up and, eventually, graduated high school.

Joy married Jerry Elsing in October of 2005 and together they built a life rich in love and happiness. One of Joy’s favorite places to be was with Jerry at their cabin in Taylor County with their cat, Stella.

Joy leaves behind her daughter, Neithy (Ken) Stout, and her adored granddaughters, Ava and Everly, who were the light of her life.  She loved being “Grammy Joy” and spoiling her grandbabies!

She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Diane Gregg and Cheryl (Denny) Thompson, who share uncountable memories and so much love.  Joy's extended family include brother-in-law Jeff (Lisa) Elsing, sister-in-law Stacy Ortiz, and mother-in-law, Karren Elsing, along with many nieces, nephews, and countless close friends.

Joy was preceded in death by her loving parents; her siblings Lee, David, Kenneth, and Nancy;  her brother-in-law James Gregg and Jay Ortiz; and sister-in-law Patty Elsing.

Joy worked many years at Rayovac and later retired from Sand Ridge. At both places she made many life-long friends who she enjoyed connecting with often.

In retirement, Joy found happiness in simple things like working a puzzle, being outside in her rock garden, or helping friends and family anyway she could.

Joy's life was full of love, family, and friendship. She will be dearly missed by so many but she wouldn’t want anyone to be sad.  To know Joy was to experience joy and generosity. We will remember her by living lives full of joy!
