Carl Leif Lovegreen died on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, in La Crosse, WI.  Carl was the son of Harold W. and Jean E. (Lilley) Lovegreen and was born on August 21, 1948 in Conimicut, RI.  He attended school in Rhode Island and graduated from Cranston East High School.  After graduation, he moved to New Lisbon, Wisconsin to live with his brother Garry who had been stationed at Volk Field.  Carl worked various jobs as a lifeguard, farm work, Leer Mfg., and as a draftsman at Volk Field, until he enlisted in the US Air Force in April 1968.  His training took him to Lacklin Air Force Base, Colorado, and Seymore Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, North Carolina, after which he was sent to Cam Rahn Bay, and DaNang, Viet Nam as a weapons and munitions mechanic.  After injuries Carl was medically discharged in July of 1970. 

In June 1970, Carl married Judy Rothe at the New Lisbon Methodist Church.  Carl and Judy moved to Madison, Wisconsin and later moved to Des Moines, Iowa for work.  In 1979, they returned to New Lisbon where he was employed at Leer Manufacturing as an Engineering Technician and Supervisor until 1997.  To this union were born 3 children, Michelle, Eric, and Rachel.  They were later divorced in 1988.

He moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1998 where he worked for Food Solutions.  He retired in 2007 and has lived in the New Lisbon area since.

In his younger days, Carl enjoyed playing cribbage, bowling, horseshoes, camping, fishing and hunting.  Carl was a member of the New Lisbon American Legion in New Lisbon for 32 years.

For the past 27 years Carl and Marion enjoyed traveling to Europe to visit their exchange students, a trip on Amtrak to Glacier Park in Montana and Mississippi, and other States, also visiting casinos locally and around Wisconsin.

Carl is survived by his children, Michelle (Alan) Pinkham, of Las Vegas, NV, Eric (Sarah) Lovegreen, of Reedsburg, WI, Rachel (Chuck) Lamb of Port Edwards, WI, 6 grandchildren, Orion, Kelsey, Erica, Michaela, Amelia, and Todd, his significant other Marion Christensen, a sister in law Barb Lovegreen, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Garry and Paul, and a brother in law Todd Rothe.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 1:00pm at the Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon.  Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday from 11:00am until the time of service.  Rev.
