Claire Thomas Walker

December 24, 1931 ~ January 11, 2018 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Claire Thomas Walker, 86 of Madison, WI, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Tomah Memorial Hospital in Tomah, WI.  Claire was born on December 24, 1931 in Hustler, WI to Floyd and Amy (Wagenson) Walker.  Claire was proud of his Danish heritage with the Wagenson family.  Claire married Mary (Sperry) in 1949.  Upon Mary’s death Claire then married JoDeen (Wilkinson) Walker in 1967 who preceded him in death in 2011. 

Claire lived in the Camp Douglas and Tomah, Wisconsin until 1976 where he ran a successful heating and air conditioning business.  Claire and JoDeen subsequently moved to Madison, WI where Claire worked for Temperature Systems, Inc as a salesman of Carrier HVAC.  Claire was a successful entrepreneur as well with several businesses including the Jack Line wood burning furnaces.  Claire was active in the Camp Douglas Masonic Lodge 272 and was a past Master of the lodge.  He was also an active member of the Madison Area Builders Association and enjoyed many years of membership at Nakoma Golf Club.  Claire also was a long standing member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Middleton, WI.

Claire was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He loved to golf, dance, travel and enjoyed many long standing friendships.  Claire is survived by his children, Steve (Angie) Walker of Tomah, Mark Walker of Arizona, Susan Murdock of Tomah, Marni Walker of Madison, Thomas (Marie) Walker of Rockford, Trea (Jeremy) Behrendt of Verona.  He is survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. 

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21st from 4-7pm at the Hare Funeral Home (217 W Pearl St) in New Lisbon, WI.  A Masonic Lodge service will be at 6:30pm.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 22nd at 11:00am at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church (215 Douglas St) Camp Douglas, WI, with Rev. Jeff Ruetten officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Douglas Village Cemetery.   Online condolences are available at www.harefuneralhome.com
