Garnet Larry Karner, “Larry”, age 85, of Mauston died on Sunday October 15, 2017 at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston.  Larry was the son of Earl and Mary (Olson) Karner and was born on January 29, 1932 in Mauston, WI.  Larry was raised in the New Lisbon area and was a 1950 graduate on the New Lisbon High School.  After high school he then entered the US Army and served his country from 1952 to 1954, and served in the Korean War.  Larry later attended college for 3 years. 

Larry was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Tausheck on March 7, 1959 in Milwaukee, WI, and to this union was born a son, Todd.  After their marriage the lived in Milwaukee for several years.  They then moved to Pittsburg Pennsylvania where Larry worked as a Marine Engineer for Chevron Oil Company.  Barbara died in Pennsylvania in 1979.  Larry returned to live in the New Lisbon/Mauston area in 1981.

Larry enjoyed doing some fishing, and hunting, and he liked photography.

Larry is survived by his longtime companion, Helen “June” Miller, of Mauston, WI, by his son Todd (Julie) Karner of Overland Park, KS, and by 3 grandchildren; Jason, Jennifer, and Grant, all from Overland Park, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Barbara.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday October 17, 2017 at 10:30A.M. at the New Lisbon City Cemetery with Rev. Deb Burkhalter presiding.  Online condolences are available at
