Leo J. Kennedy, age 82, of Camp Douglas died on Monday August 7, 2017 at the Tomah Veterans Medical Center.  Leo was born to Maurice and Lillian (Schroeder) Kennedy on October 3, 1934 in Mauston, WI.  Leo was a 1952 graduate of New Lisbon High School.  On November 27, 1954, Leo married his high school sweetheart, Ardell L. Cook, and shortly thereafter, Leo entered into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served from December 3, 1954 thru November 30, 1956. When Leo returned home from military service, he began working as an installer for Western Electric Telephone Company in Milwaukee, which later became AT&T.  He raised his family in Muskego, WI and after years as Installation Orbit Supervisor for Southern WI, Leo took early retirement at the age of 50. He and Ardell purchased and renovated a farm, in the town of Fountain in Juneau County, and began crop farming. 

He is survived by his wife Ardell of Camp Douglas, two daughters; Mary Ann Kennedy and Patricia “Patty” Kennedy both of Nashville, TN and by his sisters Kay (Joe) Buddy of Winnipeg, Canada, Maureen (George) Newkirk of Milwaukee, WI, Karla (the late Gilbert) Ormson of Eden Prairie, MN and Sharon (Arthur) Randall of Mauston, half-sister Mary Clare Schey of Columbus, WI, Connie and Jack Lobenstein, as well as many other loving nieces, nephews and friends.  Leo was preceded in death by his birth parents and by his aunt, Kathleen Kennedy Eberhart who raised him as her own.

Funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (30032 County Rd. A, Tomah, WI) on Saturday August 12, 2017 at 2:00p.m.  Relatives and friends may call at St. Peters Lutheran Church on Saturday from noon until the 2 p.m. time of service. Rev. Matthew Minzlaff will officiate.  Burial with Military Honors will be in the Hustler Cemetery.  The Hare Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
