Lorraine M. (Vavryk) Nicholson

Lorraine M. Nicholson, age 84, of New Lisbon died on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at Crest View Nursing Home in New Lisbon.  Lorraine was the daughter of Nicolay and Mary (Szejka) Vavryk, and was born on Nov. 7, 1933 in Chicago, IL.  Lorraine was raised for several years in Chicago, and later in the 1940’s the family moved to the farm in the town of Orange in Juneau County.  Lorraine attended the Lone Rock School and later graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1951.  She was united in marriage to Walter A. Nicholson on Nov. 13, 1954 at the United Methodist Church in New Lisbon.  Lorraine and Walter operated the Eating Place Restaurant in New Lisbon for many years.

Lorraine was a faithful member of the Lone Rock Baptist Church for many years.  She was a member of the Lone Rock Community Club, the Friends of the Lone Rock School, on the board of directors for ARDC. She also enjoyed vegetable gardening, and flowers. Lorraine is most noted for her love of helping people in the area, giving them rides to appointments, church, and grocery shopping.

Lorraine is survived by her children; Dan (Kathy) of New Lisbon, Brenda Nicholson of New Lisbon,  Dale (Donna) of Pardeeville WI,  John (Mary) of New Lisbon, and Larry (Sue) of New Lisbon, and by 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter in 1996, and a daughter Pauline.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday Aug. 4, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at the Lone Rock Baptist Church (N8197 6th Ave.) New Lisbon, WI, with Pastor Ray Anderson presiding.   Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will follow in the New Lisbon City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial are requested for the Lone Rock Baptist Church-Kitchen Fund.  The Hare Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.  Online condolences are available at www.harefuneralhome.com
