Merle A. Wallin, age 78, of Necedah died on Friday April 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Merle was born on February 20, 1939 to Albert and Ruth (Cooley) Wallin in Superior, WI. Merle was raised in the Superior area and attended school there until he entered in to the U.S. Marie Corps in 1956. He served his country for 4 years of active duty and 2 years in the reserves. Merle was a light weight Golden Gloves Boxer in Superior, and also enjoyed dog sledding in his younger years.
Merle was united in marriage to Sharon M. Perrizo on December 29, 1962 in Big Fork, MN. They lived in Superior for a while and then moved to Racine, WI. While living in Racine Merle worked for JI Case Industries for 30 years. Merle and Sharon then relocated to Necedah, WI in 1992 and have lived here since.
Merle was an avid hunter, and past president of the Racine Instinctive Bowman Club. He also enjoyed working with wood, and bird watching.
Merle is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sharon of Necedah, children; John (Jennifer) Wallin of Racine WI, Tim (Holly) Wallin of Westfield WI, Lisa Wallin of Racine WI, Lauri (Scott) Buck of Kenosha WI, and Carrie Prokop of Seneca IL, by 18 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. By his siblings; Charles (Helga) of Hopkinsville KY, Curt (Mary) of Beauford MO, Kenny of Racine WI, Marie Kossic of Superior WI, and Jean Watson of Jordan MN. Also by his mother-in-law Gloria Burbie in Bovey MN, 3 sisters-in-law, Judy (Dale) Matteson, Kathy (Jake) McIllwain, Beannie (Bill) Sigfrinnias, all in Bovey MN, a brother-in-law Steve (Caroline) Perrizo in Kenai, AK, and a brother-in-law Bob Perrizo in the Philippines, and many nieces and nephews, and sadly missed by his cat’s Snookie and Squeakie, and by the “Fleetwood Gang” of 50 years, and many friends in Racine and Necedah. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Gary and Melvin, and 2 sisters Tootie and Irene.
