Richard Bean Obituary

Richard “Rick” George Bean, age 62, of New Lisbon died on Saturday February 10, 2018 at his residence. Rick was born on August 7, 1955 in Milwaukee, WI, to Herbert Jerald and Donna May (Barlow) Bean.  After his parents’ divorce, Rick’s family moved to Elroy, WI in 1964, where Rick attended school and graduated from Royall High School in 1973.  Rick was married to Marilyn Skoczen in 1975, and had three children, Rich, Erin and Rebecca. Their marriage later ended in divorce.  Rick was employed by Bill Young as General Manager of the New Lisbon 76 Truck Stop, and for the Rafters Motor Inn for many years.  After the Truck Stop was sold, Rick worked for GMS in Mauston, and then was an Insurance Agent for Rural Insurance.

On February 19, 2000 Rick was united in marriage to Sharon Ann Jessen in Camp Douglas, WI. and he added two children into his family, Katie and Collin Boudreau. Rick continued his education into the health care industry and worked as a CNA at Fairview Nursing Home in Mauston and later as a Medical Support Assistant at the Tomah Veteran’s Hospital.

Rick retired in August of 2017 and was looking forward to getting healthy and having more time spent with family, that was what meant the most to Rick. He loved taking his grandkids fishing and he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Shari and with family. He was looking forward to a trip to Florida to relax and recover in the sunshine. He was passionate about music, it fed his soul. He was never far from hearing it play. He wrote his own songs and played guitar, piano and mandolin. He passed that love of music onto his kids and grandkids. He loved being around anything to do with water, boating, skiing, swimming or just sitting on the beach. It was his comfort place to be. He and Shari had a seasonal campsite on the Adams side of Castle Rock lake for several seasons. Campfires and beers with good friends and family was the best. Over the years he was in a softball league, bowling league, golf league and he enjoyed it all. Rick had the “Gift of Gab”. He loved to be with people and was the “Life of the Party!” He brightened up everyone’s day. He always had a joke and his laugh filled the room. He had a bit of mischief in his soul too! We loved him for ALL that he gave us. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him well. The world is less bright without him.

Rick is survived by his wife Shari of New Lisbon, WI, children; Rich (Mechelle) Bean and their children Richie and Ashley of Yuma, AZ, Erin (Dion) Mani and their daughter Aubrey of Madison, WI, Rebecca Bean of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Katie (Aaron) Shirek and their children Jasper, Felicity, and Violet of Mauston, WI, Collin Boudreau of New Lisbon, WI, his sister, Jeri (John) Mehne of New Lisbon, WI and their children Michelle (Ken) Lobenstein of New Lisbon, WI and their children, Ron (Julie Steenberg) Thompson of Winneconne, WI and their daughter and his sister-in-law Kimberly Bean and her children, Tyler and Alissa of Elroy, WI.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Barry Bean.
