Ronald R. Salava, age 79 of New Lisbon died on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at his home.  Ron was the son of Joseph and Thelma (Jordan) Salava and was born on October 22, 1937 in Spring Green, WI.  Ron was a 1955 graduate of the Lone Rock High School.  Ron was united in marriage to JoAnn M. Sampson on May 29, 1965 in St. Stephan’s Lutheran Church in Camp Douglas, WI, and they were blessed with 3 children, Steve, Tamara, and Peggy.

Ron served in the US Army from 1961-62, serving in Germany.  Ron worked for General Motors before going into the army. After his discharge he went to work on road construction. When the interstate was being built in Juneau County, that’s when he met JoAnn.   After moving to New Lisbon, he was employed by Lunda Construction out of Black River Falls as a cement mason and project supervisor in the construction of bridges in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.

Ron also enjoyed farming and raising Angus beef cattle, particularly show calves for fair projects. He enjoyed fair time when Beef projects were judged and then helping with the Junior Livestock Sales, especially when Steve and Peggy were showing.  He liked to be outside on his farm and to go deer hunting with Steve.

Ron is survived by his wife JoAnn of New Lisbon, daughters; Tamara (Eric) Fairfield of DeForest, WI and Peggy Lauseng of Otsego, MN, and by his daughter-in-law Jane Salava of Merrimac, WI, his grandsons; Nick Fairfield, Austin Fairfield, granddaughter Jordan Lauseng, step grandchildren, Rhiana Stowell, Andrew Jaczynski, and step great grandchild Xavier Jaczynski.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Steve, a brother Lloyd and his wife Irene, brother Joe, and niece JudiAnn.

Memorials to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church or Tomah Memorial Hospice Touch would be appreciated.
