Roy William Mavis, age 88 of New Lisbon died on Wednesday April 3, 2019 at the Crest View Nursing Home. Roy was the son of Emil A. and Mabel C. (Reese) Mavis and was born on June 11, 1930 in Richfield, IL. Roy was united in marriage to Gladys Wood who preceded him in death in 1978, Roy later married Betty Martin and she preceded him in death in 2011.
While in Illinois Roy operated a farm near Woodstock. And after his grandfather moved to New Lisbon in 1970’s, Roy decided he would move there also. Roy worked as a brake press operator for Leer Mfg. in New Lisbon for 30 years. His main hobby was wood working, he loved to make crafts and sell them at the local craft fairs. He enjoyed tractors, motorcycles, and car racing.
Roy is survived by a son David (Gwen) Mavis of Odessa MO, a daughter Julie Mavis of New Lisbon, a daughter-in-law Darla Mavis of Tomah WI, and by 7 grandchildren; Matt Ragan, Courtnie Jackson, David Mavis, Kyleh Mavis, Jaden Mavis, Linaya Mavis, Cassondra Klimpke, and by 11 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parent, first wife Gladys, second wife Betty, a son Russell, and a brother Raymond. No services are being planned at this time.
