Brenda L. Shelton, age 55 of New Lisbon, WI. passed away suddenly on March 10, 2024, at her home. She was the daughter of Dwayne and Clarissa “Kay” (Emmons) Hughes and was born on December 17, 1968, in Janesville, WI.
A graduate of Evansville High School in 1986, Brenda's thirst for knowledge and personal growth led her to earn an associate degree in business from Rock Valley College in Rockford, IL. Her education served as a foundation for the many roles she excelled in throughout her life, not least of which was the role of a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Brenda was united in marriage to Steven on July 27, 2023, in Mauston, WI.
Brenda's heart was always her compass, guiding her to Steven, her cherished husband, with whom she built a life with in New Lisbon. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering support.
She is survived by her husband, Steven of New Lisbon, her six children: Grace (Bailey) Pearson, Danielle (Danny) Martensen, Alexis (Kole) Persons, Samantha (Devin) Corrow, John William (Riley) Fletcher, and James William Fletcher, her parents, Dwayne and Kay Hughes and her siblings Tami (Mark) Niles and Todd (Joni) Hughes.
An artist at heart, Brenda possessed a remarkable talent for repurposing furniture, bringing new life to pieces that others had overlooked. Her crafts were not just hobbies, but expressions of her soul, and her skill in upholstery repair was second to none. Through her creative endeavors, Brenda left a tangible legacy of her artistic vision and her belief in the beauty of transformation.
Brenda's life will be honored, and her memory cherished with a celebration of life at a later date, where stories will be shared, tears will be shed, and laughter will echo in remembrance of a life beautifully lived.
Here is a poem written to express the way Brenda would want us to know;
I wouldn't want you suffering
but cry if you feel...
I wouldn't want you to stop living
go ahead with those plans
I had to go and help above
but here I leave my undying love
You may not see that I am here
But know that I am
I am here in Spirit
The wind, the Song, the Movie
I am and always will be
Forever around you
A Celebration will take place on April 6th, 2024 at Mati's Pub & Grub at 6:00pm. The Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences are available at www.harefuneralhome.com
