Jan Jahnsen Obituary

Jan Wesley Jahnsen, 80, of New Lisbon, WI, passed away January 2, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Tomah, WI.  He battled Parkinson's due to Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam and spent his final days under the exceptional care of the VA Center in Tomah.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (Gleason) of New Lisbon, sons Alan of Bayport MN, Thomas (Yelena) of Shoreview MN, and David of Big Falls MN, two grandchildren, Natalie and Alexander, sister Karen (Richard) Meyer of Oklahoma, niece Heidi and nephew Andy.

Jan was born to Wesley and Carolyn (Peterson) Jahnsen on May 8, 1943, in Kenosha, WI. Jan served two tours in Vietnam and eventually moved back to Wisconsin, where he and Mary raised their children in the Grantsburg area. Jan had many careers throughout his life but was truly a self-made man who enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as not taking orders from anybody.

Per his wishes, Jan will be cremated, and a small, private family event will be held at a future time.
