Kenneth J. Baumunk

Kenneth “Kenny” Baumunk passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the age of 89.    He was born on February 1, 1933 in Auburn, Iowa.  He grew up in Laurens, Iowa until he joined the Marine Corps in January 1953.  He spent 3 years in the Marines and came home to Northwest Iowa.  Kenny married Lois Darling in 1957 and drove semi-trucks while they lived in Laurens.  They lived in Laurens until 1969 when they moved to the home where Lois grew up near Mallard, Iowa.  While living on Lois’s family farm, Kenny worked construction for most of those years.  They moved again in 1984 to Milan, Illinois.  He worked as the Maintenance Manager at a 6 story building in downtown Davenport as he was nearing 80 years old.  

His favorite activities were playing golf and going hunting and fishing. He suffered with Dementia and had a heart condition in the last 15 years or so, which contributed to his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lois.  He was survived by his daughter Kimberly Darling, Davenport, Iowa, and Mark Baumunk, Mauston, Wisconsin.  His grandchildren, Michael Baumunk, Megan Baumunk, and Joseph Baumunk, great grandchildren Annabella and Owen.
