Marion "Matt" Mathias Obituary

Marion “Matt” Mathias, age 86 of Verona, passed to Eternal Life on January 01, 2022 at Elroy Health Services in Elroy, WI. He was born on May 24, 1935 in Hocking Co., Ohio to parents Frank Mathias and Margaret (Woltz) Mathias.

While in Ohio Matt served in the U.S. Army. Matt worked for many years in the Maintenance Department at Oakwood Village. Matt and his wife Iva Jean, cared for and raised more than 100 foster children in the Verona area over a period of 40 years. Matt enjoyed reading and going fishing and camping.

Matt is survived by his daughters, Pamela of New Lisbon and Kimberly Pluss of Bloomington, MN, sons, David of Reedsburg and Keith of Madison, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Iva Jean a twin sister Mary Ellen and a brother Harold, and his oldest daughter Robyn Spease in 2016.
